Age Exchange

Established in 1983 as Europe’s first organisation dedicated to reminiscence and intergenerational arts, Age Exchange is a nationally recognised charity now based at its vibrant Blackheath community hub. The organisation is unique as the only arts charity embedded within a social care provider, operating as a subsidiary of Community Integrated Care. Its Blackheath premises serve as a welcoming space for the local community, attracting over 180,000 visitors annually. The site offers a range of valuable resources, including a community cafe, a library, and a bookshop, while serving as a centre for creative experiences. The charity utilises its evidence-led RADIQL model to provide life-changing services for people living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, and mental health conditions, as well as those experiencing social isolation. In addition to its daily hub activities, Age Exchange hosts notable annual events, including a popular Christmas Fair. Through a blend of creative expression, compassionate care, and local outreach, the organisation remains a pillar of social inclusion and wellbeing in the heart of Blackheath.
