Submissions

When you submit a story idea, event, photograph or message, the details you provide — including your name, email, location and any attached image — are sent privately to our editorial team. Submissions are not published automatically and are not visible to other users.

Editorial review

Our editors review every submission. We may contact you using the email you provided. We will only publish material we choose to feature, and we will agree any credit or attribution with you first.

Community Wall

Registered members can submit short messages to the Social Hub Community Wall. Messages are held for moderation before publication. If approved, the message, selected topic/area and a shortened public display name may be visible to other visitors. Email addresses are not displayed publicly.

Business directory information & business outreach

To build and maintain the Local Guide, we may collect publicly available information about local businesses and organisations, such as business names, addresses, categories, websites, telephone numbers, opening information and business contact details. Sources may include a business's own website and other public business sources.

We may use relevant business contact details to contact a business about its complimentary listing, ask it to check or correct the information shown, request appropriate permission for imagery, or explain optional advertising and partnership services. Where the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations require consent for electronic marketing, we only send marketing where an appropriate consent or soft opt-in has been recorded. Where those consent rules do not apply to a corporate subscriber, we may rely on legitimate interests for proportionate business-to-business outreach.

Businesses and individual business contacts can object to direct marketing at any time. Marketing emails include an opt-out link, and an objection will be recorded so that further marketing is suppressed.

Business imagery

Public availability of a photograph does not by itself transfer copyright or grant us permanent permission to reuse it. Where imagery requires permission, we may ask the business or relevant rights-holder to confirm that they own or control the rights, or have authority to grant permission. Businesses can provide replacement media or request removal of imagery through our listing-review process.
