University of Greenwich Galleries

University of Greenwich Galleries was established in 2013 to oversee a growing portfolio of exhibition spaces following the development of the University's Stockwell Street campus. The organisation manages three unique venues, each with a distinct character and programming focus: the Stephen Lawrence Gallery, the Project Space, and the Heritage Gallery. The Stephen Lawrence Gallery, founded in 2000 in memory of Stephen Lawrence, is a prominent venue dedicated to promoting diversity in visual arts. It typically hosts six curated exhibitions annually, featuring work from contemporary artists, designers, and architects, often complemented by conferences and workshops. Located in the modern Stockwell Street building, the gallery engages deeply with subjects such as architecture and digital arts. In addition, the Heritage Gallery, situated in the historic Old Royal Naval College, offers a separate exhibition experience. Together, these galleries serve as a vital bridge between academic research, public history, and the wider community, platforming student shows and projects that explore themes of social, cultural, and historical significance.
