Eltham Grill House has been feeding Eltham since 1967, and it's still a family business that welcomes guests the way it would welcome them into its own home. Fish is delivered daily from Billingsgate Market, never frozen, and the cod is hand-battered every day and served with chunky chips and homemade tartare sauce.
Beyond the classic fish suppers (try the rock salmon or crispy squid rings), there are marinated kebabs grilled over an open flame, traditional pies, sausages and burgers. The smartly decorated restaurant, with its bar, is a comfortable place to sit down and unwind, and the portions are famously generous.
