GAIL's Blackheath is the village branch of the London neighbourhood bakery, at 3 Blackheath Village in the centre of SE3. Bread, pastries, cakes, breakfasts and lunches are made with care, by hand and according to the season, alongside GAIL's own speciality coffee.
It's an easy stop for a sourdough loaf, a cinnamon bun and a flat white on the way to the heath, or for breakfast and a sandwich at lunchtime. There's an eat-in area and street-side seating outside, complimentary wifi, customer toilets, baby changing and highchairs, which makes it popular with families.
Beyond the counter you'll find The Pantry, with jams, spreads, crackers, biscuits and coffee to take home, a fridge of seasonal salads and chilled products, and gifts from individual cakes and biscuits to build-your-own boxes and gift cards. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating, though not inside because of the low product displays.
You can skip the queue with same-day click and collect through the GAIL's app, order sharing boxes 48 hours ahead for a gathering, or have breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea delivered. GAIL's also passes surplus food from its bakeries to local charities every day through its partnership with Neighbourly.
