A family-run Nepalese and Tibetan restaurant on Woolwich New Road since 2011, known for handmade momo dumplings with homemade chilli sauce, thukpa, laphing and thali sets. Closed Tuesdays.
Kailash Momo was opened in 2011 by a couple who had worked as carers for the elderly and put their savings into sharing the food of Nepal and Tibet with Woolwich. It's now run by the family's next generation, with a second branch in Welling.
Momos are the speciality: soft, juicy dumplings handmade every day, filled with chicken, vegetables or mutton, steamed or pan-fried and served with a fresh homemade chilli sauce. The menu also takes in warming thukpa noodle soup, chow mein, home-style curries, thali sets, chilli paneer and laphing, a spicy Tibetan cold noodle dish.
It's open for lunch and dinner, and you can book a table, eat in, or order takeaway and delivery. Frozen momos are also sold to cook at home.
