Richard the First is a traditional neighbourhood pub on historic Royal Hill, a short stroll from central Greenwich and about 400m from the DLR. It has been at the heart of the local community since 1869, and Jamie and the team run it as a proper Greenwich local: the kind of place where neighbours become friends and dogs get a fuss before their owners do.
At the bar you'll find carefully kept guest ales, local craft beers, fine wines and a well-stocked back bar of spirits, with seasonal cocktails through the colder months. The kitchen leans into nostalgic pub classics with generous portions: roast dinners that anchor a Sunday, a good plate of fish and chips and a sticky toffee pudding to finish, whether you come for a long lunch or a cosy dinner.
Inside there are cosy rooms to settle into, and out the back is the pub's covered and heated beer garden, made for eating and drinking outdoors whatever the weather.
