Founded in 1608, the oldest golf club in England, with a beautiful 18-hole parkland course in Eltham, a Grade I listed 17th-century clubhouse, a golf museum, visitor tee times, Sunday lunches and weddings.
Royal Blackheath traces its roots back to 1608, making it the oldest golf club in England. Today it plays over an 18-hole parkland course on Court Road in Eltham, with heather, mature trees and, from the higher ground, views towards the City.
At its heart is a magnificent Grade I listed 17th-century clubhouse, home to a renowned golf museum filled with historic trophies, artefacts and memorabilia. The dining room serves everything from bar snacks to traditional Sunday lunches and cream teas, and the house makes a romantic setting for weddings.
Playing as a visitor
Visitors are welcome to book tee times from Monday to Friday, typically between 8am and 6pm, and the club also hosts society and corporate golf days and open competitions. Membership is open too, with a progressive, inclusive outlook.
