Theatre of Wine

Theatre of Wine is an independent wine merchant on Trafalgar Road in Greenwich, one of a small group of shops that opened its first doors in 2002, with sister stores in Blackheath Village and Tufnell Park. Behind the red shopfront, shelves of wine run the length of the room around a long tasting table. The range covers red, white and rosé, still, sparkling and fortified wines from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Greece and the rest of Europe, as well as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the Americas, alongside gin, whisky, vodka and brandy, craft beer, gifts and a small selection of cigars. Regular shop tastings are at the heart of what the team does: they have run more than a thousand since opening, each with a theme and a host presenting six to eight wines, beers or spirits in a relaxed, informal way, and they are booked online. Private and corporate tastings can be arranged in store or elsewhere. For parties and events the shop can help choose the wine and supply glassware, ice, chiller bins, trestle tables and soft drinks, and case discounts of 5 to 15 percent apply on selected wines when buying by the dozen or more. Wines can also be ordered through the online shop.
