Blackheath Village's original brew-pub since 2000: beer brewed in on-site tanks, wood-fired pizza, kilo pots of mussels, and private rooms for up to 250.
Zerodegrees opened in Blackheath Village in 2000 as South East London's original brew-pub, and it is still a working microbrewery, wood-fired pizzeria and event venue on Montpelier Vale, three minutes' walk from Blackheath station.
The beer is brewed on site in the copper-coloured tanks you can see from the tables: a lager, a pilsner, a pale ale and a black lager, plus a monthly special. The kitchen pairs them with hand-stretched, wood-fired pizzas, hearty pasta and the restaurant's signature kilo pot of fresh mussels, steamed to order in a choice of three sauces (Marinière, Calabrian or Thermidor) and served with fries.
The building spreads over several levels, with seating for around 150, a dining garden and balcony seating. For parties, the upstairs Bohemian Room takes up to 70 and the Tank Lounge up to 60, each with its own bar and access to the balcony; the bar and restaurant can be hired for up to 160, or the whole venue for up to 250. It is a popular choice for birthdays, corporate events, drinks receptions and Christmas parties, and larger groups are looked after by a dedicated events team.
