A Greenwich cat café where every resident cat is a rescue, with plant-based bakes made in-house, creative events and a team that has rehomed more than 60 cats.

Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium is a cat café on King William Walk in the heart of Greenwich, a short stroll from the Cutty Sark. Run by a close-knit team of cat lovers, it brings people together over a shared love of cats while giving its resident rescue cats a calm, enriching home until they find their forever families. So far the team has found loving homes for more than 60 cats in or under its care.

Every cat here is a rescue. The current clowder includes playful Prince, bouncy Baloo, once-shy Silvius, long-haired Charlie II (found as a tiny stray in Blackheath) and Poirot, named for his distinctive moustache. Visits are booked as cat café sessions, and a member of the cat care team is always on hand to explain what each cat enjoys most. The house rules keep the cats happy: let sleeping cats lie, no picking up, no feeding and no flash photography, and guests must be 12 or over.

The cat-themed menu is baked in-house by Head Baker Temini Kasumu, and every bake is free of meat, dairy and eggs. There is a lively events programme too, from painting nights and tarot-card workshops with Two Cats Collective to enrichment crafts where you make puzzle feeders for the cats. Gift vouchers and souvenirs are sold online.

Blackheath & Greenwich is working with Lady Dinah's on a feature documentary, so look out for more films from the Emporium soon.

Rehoming: how adoption works and how you can help

Every cat at Lady Dinah's is a rescue. The café describes itself as a long-term foster home for its cats: they are stray cats, unwanted kittens, or cats from families who can no longer look after them. Each one gets day-to-day love from the cat care team, plus vaccinations, neutering, flea and worming treatment and any other vet care they need while they stay. Its adoptions page puts the number of rescue cats it has found loving homes for at more than 120.

Rehoming here is cat-led. Cats stay in the café only while they are happy living café life, whether that is a few months or a few years. The team of Cat Carers, all trained in animal welfare and husbandry, watch for the signs that a cat is ready for a home of its own. Some cats who don't suit café life are rehomed sooner, from the café's private rescue rooms.

How to adopt:

  • See the cats currently looking for homes on the adoptions page: https://www.ladydinahs.com/pages/adoptions-cat-cafe-london
  • To give one of them a home, email Colette, Head Cat Carer & Rehoming Manager: Colette@ladydinahs.co.uk
  • Interested in a different cat? Fill in the adoption questionnaire on the same page.
  • Join the adoption and fostering list there to hear when cats need homes, plus occasional fostering opportunities and events for cat carers.
  • If you need to rehome a cat, Lady Dinah's has limited space but will help match cats with new owners if you can keep them a little longer while a home is found.

Other ways to help:

  • Book a visit. The café says this is the best way to support it.
  • Donate to the GoFundMe for vet bills and care costs, kept in a separate pot for the cats.
  • Send something from the cats' Amazon wishlist, or drop off unopened cat food and treats, toys, beds or cat trees.
  • Buy a gift voucher.
