Community Spotlight: Boutique by Shelter, Blackheath
Designer, high-street and vintage finds on Tranquil Vale, with every sale helping Shelter support people facing homelessness and bad housing.
Boutique by Shelter on Tranquil Vale is the Blackheath branch of Shelter's boutique charity shops, designed by Wayne Hemingway and his team. It's the place for designer pieces, high-end high street labels and one-off vintage finds, and every sale helps fund Shelter's work.
Shelter supports anyone facing homelessness or bad housing. It gives expert housing advice and support, fights for people's rights in court and campaigns for change so that everyone has a safe, secure home. Winter is when that work matters most, which makes the Blackheath boutique a good place to do some of your Christmas shopping.
The shop always needs good-quality stock, and pre-loved clothes and accessories can be dropped off in store during opening hours.
It's also run with the help of volunteers, who sort stock, steam clothes, serve customers and create the eye-catching window and in-store displays. A few hours a week makes a real difference, and it's a chance to pick up retail experience and new skills along the way.
The shop has a level entrance and wheelchair access.
