Community Spotlight: Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust at Charlton House
The charity behind Charlton House cares for the borough's heritage. Christmas brings wreath making, a Christmas Fair, Santa and Santa Paws.
Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust is the charity that looks after many of the borough's historic buildings, objects and records, and brings them to life through exhibitions, tours, walks and activities for all ages. Formed in 2014, its flagship is Charlton House & Gardens, one of the finest Jacobean manor houses in the country, built between 1607 and 1612.
Visitors can explore the house at their own pace, wander the historic gardens with one of James I's mulberry trees and a summer house attributed to Inigo Jones, and stop for tea at Frilly's Tea Room. The Trust also runs heritage learning sessions for local primary schools and offers rooms for celebrations and community gatherings.
You can support the Trust by visiting, booking an event, becoming a Friend or making a donation.
Christmas is a lovely time to go, as the house is decorated from the end of November.
