GCDA, the Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency, has been helping local communities to be healthy and sustainable since 1982. Based on Royal Hill, it is a co-operative social business with charitable status, and its work rests on enterprise, health and the environment.

Food is at the heart of much of what it does. GCDA runs the Greenwich Community Cookery Clubs for the Royal Borough of Greenwich, which have been teaching people to cook healthy, affordable meals since 2003. It leads Good Food in Greenwich, the network that helped the borough win a Sustainable Food Places silver award, and through Growing Greenwich residents can join weekly gardening sessions, growing herbs, fruit and vegetables on organic principles.

GCDA Learning runs adult courses from culinary skills and sewing to social media and business start-up, and the agency supports social enterprises, co-operatives and local makers through Made in Greenwich.

It also manages a family of community hubs, among them Woolwich Common Community Centre, the Woolwich Front Room, Kidbrooke Community Hub and The Catford House. Rooms and kitchens across these venues can be hired, and every booking helps fund GCDA's community meals and projects.

Volunteers are always welcome, including at the Woolwich Front Room community café.
