Mycenae House is Westcombe Park's community centre, run by a local charity. Quiz night, live music and family concerts this November and December.
Mycenae House is a community centre and events venue in Westcombe Park, set in its own public gardens and woodland off Mycenae Road. It is run by the Vanbrugh Community Association, a registered charity that has managed the house for the Royal Borough of Greenwich since 1994, with a social mission centred on people's wellbeing and connection with each other.
The house was built in the 1930s as a novitiate for the Little Sisters of the Assumption. When the order left in 1967, local historian Cyril Fry persuaded the council to buy it, saving it from developers, and it became a community centre the following year.
Today around 125 activities a week take place across its rooms and halls, alongside the house's own Reach Out Projects social inclusion work. There's a café bar for a coffee or a drink, and Mycenae Gardens and the Woodlands Dell are a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation, cared for with help from the Friends of Mycenae Gardens.
The easiest way to support it is to come along:
Tuesdays 3 and 10 November, 8pm: Stargazing for Beginners
Saturday 14 November, 7pm for 7.30pm: Westcombe Society Quiz Night
Friday 20 November: Oli 'Mississippi' MacDonald
Friday 27 November: Linda Moylan Band
Saturday 5 December: Baby Broadway family concert
Friday 11 December: The SWOP Sessions
