Inigo Jones's Queen's House, cared for by the charity Royal Museums Greenwich, hosts an ice rink, Santa's Grotto and evening concerts this winter.
The Queen's House is one of London's most beautiful buildings. Designed by Inigo Jones and completed in the 1630s, its "white cube" influenced centuries of British architecture. It sits at the heart of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site, between the National Maritime Museum and Greenwich Park, and is cared for by Royal Museums Greenwich, a registered charity.
Today it's an art gallery, home to royal portraits, seascapes and modern sculpture, including the Armada Portrait of Elizabeth I. Don't miss the Tulip Stairs, a spiral staircase that has become one of the most photographed spots in Greenwich.
Visiting, becoming a member or donating all support the museums' work, and winter is when the house comes into its own:
Friday 6 November, 7.30pm: evening concert with harpists Gloria Rappo and Xinyi Wu of Trinity Laban
14 November to 24 December: Santa's Grotto at the Queen's House, including relaxed sessions for neurodivergent and SEND visitors
18 November 2026 to 3 January 2027: the Queen's House Ice Rink
Thursday 26 November, 7.30pm: evening concert with Trinity Laban ensemble Aúrion
