Community Spotlight: QUEERCIRCLE
QUEERCIRCLE is an LGBTQIA+ arts and social action charity on Greenwich Peninsula, with a community library, workshops and a young people's programme.
QUEERCIRCLE is an LGBTQIA+ arts and social action charity with a permanent home in the Design District on Greenwich Peninsula. It was founded in 2016 as a community response to the loss of 58% of London's queer spaces, because when those spaces close, communities lose relationships, memory, networks of care and creativity along with the buildings.
Its building on Soames Walk holds a gallery, a project space and the Queer Community Library, a drop-in space for queer books, zines and publications, with tables to work at and sofas to settle into. The library is open Tuesday to Friday, 11am to 6pm, and the collection grows through community donations.
Alongside exhibitions, QUEERCIRCLE runs workshops, talks, screenings, a young people's programme and support for grassroots groups. The gallery and library are step-free, with accessible toilets for all genders on every floor.
You can support it by visiting, donating books to the library or giving to its community fundraising campaign.
