Community Spotlight: YHA London Thameside
Run by the charity YHA, this riverside hostel in Rotherhithe is a base for families, groups and visitors heading to Greenwich.
Not every charity on our site is a shop or a service. YHA London Thameside is a purpose-built hostel on the banks of the Thames in Rotherhithe, run by YHA (England and Wales), the charity that has been helping people of all ages explore and stay in the UK for generations.
It's a useful one to know if you have family or friends visiting at Christmas. The hostel welcomes solo travellers, families and groups, and it's a comfortable base for exploring London, including Greenwich just along the river. You can even make the arrival more memorable by River Bus.
The hostel has recently been refurbished. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, with lift access throughout and accessible rooms, and there's a dining room, a shared lounge and a self-catering kitchen for anyone who likes to cook. The café bar serves drinks and snacks, including a 24-hour pizza menu, and the hostel is staffed around the clock, so you can arrive at any time.
It's also a popular choice for school and youth groups, and holds the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.
Every stay supports YHA's work as a charity.
