Greenwich Foodbank supported 17,273 local people in 2025. Here's where to drop off food, how to volunteer and how to get help.
Greenwich Foodbank gives emergency food and support to local people who are referred to it in crisis. It is an independent charity and part of the Trussell Trust's national network, and its aim is to end the need for food banks in Greenwich altogether.
The scale of the need is sobering. In 2025 the foodbank supported 17,273 people, including 6,983 children, and distributed 151,900 kilograms of food. In its last financial year, 54% of that food was donated by the public, which is why every tin counts.
Donating is easy. There are collection points at local supermarkets, including Waitrose at New Capital Quay and Sainsbury's Local on Fenton Parade, as well as the Eltham Centre and the Woolwich Centre. You can also send an online grocery delivery to the depot on Shooters Hill on weekdays between 10am and 3pm. At the last update, the most urgently needed items were essential toiletries, tins of fish, meat and potatoes, and juice.
Volunteers keep the whole operation running, from welcoming guests to driving deliveries across the borough, and companies can book an Impact Day at the depot on Tuesdays.
If you need help, you will need a foodbank voucher: the Greenwich Community Hub on 0800 470 4831 can issue one.
